The TaxDome alternative for firms that want the collection layer, not the whole suite
TaxDome is a practice-management platform and ChaseDocs is not trying to be one — there is no job board here, no invoicing, no e-signature and no CRM. What ChaseDocs does is the one part most suites leave to email: getting the documents in, complete and correct. It chases over WhatsApp, reads every upload against the request you sent, and leaves the files in your own cloud.

The short version
Last updated 2026-09-06TaxDome is a practice-management suite: jobs, invoicing, e-signature, CRM and a client portal in one product. ChaseDocs is only the collection layer — the checklist, the chasing and the check on each upload. It differs on three things: requests go over WhatsApp, an AI reads each document against the request you sent, and the files stay in your own cloud.
What a bookkeeping practice actually chases
Four collection cycles, not one. Any tool you buy is being judged on these.
Onboarding a new client
Director and shareholder ID, proof of address, opening balances, prior-year accounts, the signed engagement letter.
Every close
Bank and credit-card statements for the period, sales and purchase invoices, receipts, payroll summaries.
Year-end and filing
Full-year statements, tax forms, asset purchases, loan and director balances, and the confirmations the filing depends on.
The annual KYC refresh
Re-dated identity documents and proof of address, plus whatever your risk policy adds on top.
The same four cycles, in more detail, on our page for accountants and bookkeepers.
What TaxDome does well
Positioning, not a feature audit — see the note under the comparison table for why this page states no TaxDome prices or features.
- A full practice-management suite rather than a single-purpose tool
- One system for the work around the documents, not just the documents
- Long-established in the accounting and tax market with a large installed base
Why bookkeepers look for a TaxDome alternative
They do not want a whole practice platform
A solo bookkeeper with a working process does not need a second system to run the practice. They need the documents to arrive.
Their clients answer chat, not a portal
A client portal only works if the client opens it. A message on the channel they already read, with one link and no password, removes the step people stall on.
They want the upload checked, not just received
Right document, right period, not expiring before the date you set, legible — checked on arrival while the client is still paying attention.
They already have a suite and still chase by email
Practice management runs the work. It rarely gets the bank statements in. ChaseDocs is the layer in front, not a replacement.
ChaseDocs vs TaxDome at a glance
- 1 This is the row that decides it, and TaxDome wins it outright for anyone who wants one system. Jobs, invoicing, e-signature, CRM and a client portal are not on the ChaseDocs roadmap. ChaseDocs does the collection step and expects to sit next to whatever runs your practice.
- 2 ChaseDocs returns four checks on every readable upload: is this the document I asked for, does it cover the period I set, does it expire before the date I set, is it legible. What TaxDome does here is unverified — see the note below the table.
- 3 ChaseDocs writes each upload into your connected cloud storage and keeps a pointer, a validation result, and a transient encrypted copy for the AI pass that is deleted straight after. Whether TaxDome offers bring-your-own storage on any tier is unverified.
- 4 [UNVERIFIED — founder to confirm: plan name, price, billing term and any seat minimum] ChaseDocs is priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from at once — see our pricing section, where the app is authoritative.
Unverified — read this before using the table
We could not read TaxDome's pricing page. It blocks automated access, and every attempt on 2026-09-06 returned an HTTP 403. Rather than copy a figure from a review site — two of which disagreed with each other by 200 US dollars per user per year — every TaxDome price, plan, trial and feature cell above is marked [UNVERIFIED] and claims nothing. The only TaxDome claim this page does make is that it is a practice-management suite, which is their own description of themselves. Check their pricing page yourself, and ours for ChaseDocs.
You do not want to be the document custodian. Neither do we.
Your clients' bank statements and directors' IDs are their data, your liability, and someone else's business model. Every tool that holds them adds a third party to every privacy review you ever do.
Uploads land in your cloud
Connect Google Drive™ and documents route straight into the folder your team already works from. The file of record is always yours.
We keep a pointer, not the file
ChaseDocs stores the checklist, the verdict and a reference — so if we were ever breached, there is no client bank statement here to take.
The AI copy is transient
One encrypted copy is used for the check, then deleted the moment it finishes. Nothing from inside a document is ever stored or logged.
Nothing to unwind if you leave
Cancel and your documents are unaffected, because they were never ours. There is no export to request and no retention period to read.
The question to ask any practice suite
After a client uploads, where does the original live, and can it live in storage I already own? A suite that holds your clients' records is a third party in every privacy review you do, and the answer is rarely on the pricing page. Ask before you migrate a book of clients into it — the answer is much harder to act on afterwards.
Switch to ChaseDocs if…
- You want the collection step solved and nothing else.
- Your clients answer WhatsApp faster than they open a portal.
- You want each upload read and checked before your team opens it.
- You want the file of record in your own cloud, not a vendor platform.
- You already run a practice system and only the chasing is broken.
Stay with TaxDome if…
- You want one system for jobs, invoicing, e-signature, CRM and documents — ChaseDocs is none of those.
- You are consolidating tools rather than adding one.
- Your team already lives in a practice platform and a second login is the wrong trade.
- You need a full client portal with billing and messaging attached, not a collection link.
Switching takes an afternoon, not a project
There's no data migration, because ChaseDocs never holds your documents in the first place. Three steps:
- 01
Rebuild your checklist as a template
Add the documents and questions you request each period. Reuse it for every client, every cycle.
- 02
Connect your cloud storage
Link Google Drive so uploads route straight there. Or use the zero-config encrypted fallback.
- 03
Send your first request over WhatsApp
Your client uploads with no login, AI checks each file, and reminders chase them for you.
See it in your own words
Same product, described with the documents you actually chase.

TaxDome alternative FAQ
Is ChaseDocs a TaxDome replacement?
No, and it is important to be clear about that before you spend anything. TaxDome is practice-management software — jobs, workflows, invoicing, e-signature, CRM and a client portal. ChaseDocs is one layer: the checklist, the chasing, the check on each upload, and the filing. If you are looking to run your whole practice from one product, ChaseDocs is the wrong purchase. If you want the document-collection step to stop being email and follow-ups, it is exactly that and nothing more.
Can I use ChaseDocs alongside a practice-management suite?
Yes, and that is a common shape. Practice management runs the jobs, the deadlines and the billing; ChaseDocs sits in front of it and gets the documents in. One thing to know before you plan around it: there is no integration with practice-management tools today — no TaxDome, Karbon, Xero Practice Manager or QuickBooks connector, and no ID-verification or AML screening. The only integration is storage, which is where the uploads land.
How much does TaxDome cost compared to ChaseDocs?
We are not going to tell you, because we could not verify it. TaxDome blocks automated reads of its pricing page, and the third-party figures we found disagreed with each other by a wide margin. Our own rule is that a competitor price comes off the vendor's own page or it does not go on the site, so every TaxDome figure here is marked unverified. Read their pricing page yourself. ChaseDocs starts at $29/month, billed in USD by card, priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from at once.
Where do the documents end up with ChaseDocs?
In your own cloud storage. Connect Google Drive and uploads route straight there — ChaseDocs keeps the checklist, the verdict and a pointer to the file, never the document itself. The AI also proposes a clean filename on the way in, so a photo called IMG_4471.jpg does not land in a client folder under that name. A single encrypted copy is used for the check and deleted the moment it finishes. If you would rather not connect storage on day one, a short-retention encrypted bucket is the zero-config fallback.
Does ChaseDocs send the monthly request automatically?
Not on a schedule, and that is worth knowing before you buy. Once a request is sent the follow-ups are automatic — a nudge at two days, another at five, and a due-soon ping the day before a due date if you set one, each cancelling itself the moment nothing is outstanding. Starting the cycle is still a deliberate action, but it is one action: save your close checklist as a template, add the clients as a group, and every link goes out together.
