Need help with ChaseDocs? Email support@usechasedocs.com — a human reads every message and replies within one business day. There is no ticket number to chase and nothing to sign up for; the same address works whether you are a customer, a client who was sent an upload link, or reviewing us before you buy.
Common questions
How does a document request work?
A firm builds a checklist of the documents and questions it needs, then sends it to one client. The client gets a single no-login link over WhatsApp or email and uploads from their phone or laptop. Automated reminders chase anything still outstanding, an AI check reads each upload for type, period, readability and completeness, and the firm accepts each item or sends it back with a note. The AI verdict is advisory — nothing is accepted, rejected or returned to a client without someone at the firm deciding. Getting started walks through the whole flow.
What happens to the files my clients upload?
They go into your own Google Drive™, into a folder called ChaseDocs Uploads that you can rename, move, or nest inside the client folders you already keep. ChaseDocs stores only a reference to the file — where it lives, what it was for, what the check said — never the document itself, and we never delete anything from your Drive. A document is read once, in memory, to produce the validation verdict, and that copy is dropped immediately after; we do not train AI on it. If you connect no storage, uploads sit in an access-restricted ChaseDocs bucket and are deleted automatically after a short retention window (14 days by default). See Storage and security.
Which Google permissions does ChaseDocs request, and why?
Two separate things, each asked for on its own. Signing in with Google asks only
for your name and email address, so we know who you are. Connecting Google Drive
is a second, deliberate decision and requests the narrowest file permission Google offers —
drive.file, per-file access limited to files ChaseDocs itself creates.
We cannot see, open or search anything else in your Drive, including files you put into the
ChaseDocs Uploads folder yourself. We need it for one purpose: writing your clients' uploads into
your own Drive instead of keeping them on our servers. Signing in never grants file access, and
disconnecting Drive never signs you out.
Do my clients need an account to upload?
No. They open one link and upload — no signup, no password, nothing to install, and it works on a phone. The link itself is the access, which is why it should be treated like a password and not forwarded. See The client portal.
Which file types can clients upload?
PDF, photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC), and Word or Excel files, up to 25 MB each. A clear phone photo of a passport page is fine. Other file types are refused for safety. Full AI verdicts come back on PDF and JPEG/PNG/WebP; Word, Excel and HEIC files are accepted and stored but flagged for human review rather than checked.
How do I disconnect Google Drive?
Open Settings → Document storage in the ChaseDocs app and press Disconnect. It takes effect immediately and does not sign you out. Every document already filed in your Drive stays exactly where it is — those files are yours, and we never delete from your storage. New uploads then fall back to the short-retention ChaseDocs bucket until you connect storage again. You can also revoke our access from Google's own third-party apps and services page. If you run more than one firm on ChaseDocs from the same Google account, note that disconnecting withdraws access for both.
