Getting started

Four steps from an empty account to a document you've accepted. Do it once with a real client — it takes about ten minutes.

Before you start

Create an account and you're on a 7-day free trial with every feature unlocked — branding, your own cloud storage, group requests, the full AI check, the audit log. No card required to start.

You can sign up and sign in either with an email address and password or with Sign in with Google — one button, no password to choose or remember. Both lead to the same account: if you signed up with an email address and later use the Google button with that same address, you land in your existing workspace with all your data, not a new one. (Going the other way, an account created with Google can add a password any time via Forgot password, and then use either method.)

Signing in with Google is not the same as connecting Google Drive™ — that's a separate, optional step with its own permission prompt, and it asks only for access to the files ChaseDocs itself creates.

If you sign up with Google, we offer that Drive connection once, on the screen right after your workspace is created. Skip is a real answer — uploads then go to ChaseDocs's short-retention encrypted storage, which is a supported way to run — and you can connect Drive whenever you like under Settings → Document storage. Signing up with an email address and password goes straight to the dashboard; connecting storage is a Settings step there.

Signing up asks for your firm name, the country you operate in, and an email address. The country doesn't change how anything works — no feature turns on or off because of it. We ask so we know which markets to support properly, starting with the data-protection rules that apply there. You can change it later under Settings → Firm details.

The trial is capped at 50 active requests at a time. "Active" means sent and not yet finished; drafts, completed and cancelled requests don't count against it. That's enough to run the product properly during an evaluation, including a full-size group booking.

Confirm your email before you send. Signing up gets you into the dashboard straight away, and you can build requests, add clients and connect your storage immediately — but we email you a confirmation link, and nothing goes out to a client until you open it. It's how we keep the shared WhatsApp number and sending domain clean for every firm on ChaseDocs. If it hasn't arrived, check spam, then use Resend the link on the banner at the top of the app.

Installing from the Google Workspace Marketplace

ChaseDocs is listed on the Google Workspace Marketplace. You don't need to install it to use ChaseDocs — it's a normal web app, and signing up on this site is the whole setup. Installing is for firms that would rather approve it once, centrally.

When your Google Workspace™ administrator installs it for the domain, the Google permissions are approved for everyone at once, so nobody at the firm meets an individual permission prompt on the way to connecting Drive. That's the difference it makes; it doesn't create ChaseDocs accounts, doesn't start a subscription, and doesn't change your trial. Everyone still signs up or signs in at the app as normal.

The listing shows exactly what ChaseDocs asks Google for, and it's short:

  • See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app — the narrow scope. It cannot reach anything else in your Drive.
  • Your primary Google Account email address, and basic profile info — that's what makes Sign in with Google work.

Step 1 — Build your first request

From Requests, press New request. A request is a checklist for one client: the documents you need, plus any questions you want answered.

  • Give it a title your client will recognise — they see it. "Tax return 2025 — documents needed" beats "Request #4".
  • Add the client's name and their WhatsApp number or email address.
  • Add checklist items: a document to upload, or a question to answer.
  • Set a due date if you have one. It changes how the client sees the request and adds a reminder the day before.

Nothing goes out yet — a new request is a draft, and drafts are private to your firm. Your work autosaves in the browser as you build, so a closed tab doesn't cost you the checklist. Full detail in Building a request.

Step 2 — Send it

Open the draft and press Send. Pick the channel — WhatsApp or email — and confirm that this client agreed to be contacted there. That confirmation is recorded against the client; we won't send without it.

Your client gets a message with one link. No account, no password, no app to install. From that point ChaseDocs handles the follow-ups — see Sending and reminders.

Step 3 — Your client uploads

They open the link on their phone and work down the checklist. Progress saves as they go, so they can do half of it now and the rest tonight. You watch it land on your dashboard: each request shows a progress bar of accepted, awaiting review, and still to do.

You don't need to do anything here. If they go quiet, reminders go out on a schedule — and stop automatically once nothing is outstanding.

Step 4 — Review and accept

When a file arrives, it's checked automatically: is it the right kind of document, does it cover the right period, is it readable, is anything missing? You get a verdict and a suggested filename before you open anything.

Then you decide. Accept closes that line. Ask again reopens it with a note, and your client is told what to fix. The AI never accepts or rejects on your behalf — see Reviewing uploads.

That's the whole loop. Everything else — templates, groups, branding, your own cloud storage — makes this faster or safer, but it's the same four steps underneath.

Two things worth doing next

  • Save a template. If you ask most clients for the same documents, save the checklist once and reuse it. See Building a request.
  • Connect your own cloud storage. Uploads then route into your Google Drive and we keep only a reference — never your clients' files. See Storage and security.

Reopening the in-app checklist

The dashboard shows the same four steps as a live checklist that ticks itself off as you go. It hides once you've been through the loop — press the ? button in the app header and choose Getting started to bring it back at any time.
