The Suralink alternative for bookkeepers, not audit teams
Suralink is a strong product aimed at a specific job: the audit request list, with workpaper tooling and a row of AI review agents around it. If you run monthly closes for a book of small clients, that is machinery built for a different problem, and it is quoted by sales rather than priced on a page. ChaseDocs is monthly, self-serve, chases over WhatsApp, and leaves your clients' records in your own cloud.
7-day free trial, no card required. Your clients' records stay in your cloud.
The short version
Last updated 2026-09-06Suralink is built for audit PBC request lists and prices by quote rather than publishing a rate. Its document AI is the broadest here — prescreen, vouching and consistency agents. ChaseDocs is a self-serve monthly tool for bookkeeping practices, differing on three things: WhatsApp delivery, a check that judges each upload against the request you sent, and files that stay in your own cloud.
What a bookkeeping practice actually chases
Four collection cycles, not one. Any tool you buy is being judged on these.
Onboarding a new client
Director and shareholder ID, proof of address, opening balances, prior-year accounts, the signed engagement letter.
Every close
Bank and credit-card statements for the period, sales and purchase invoices, receipts, payroll summaries.
Year-end and filing
Full-year statements, tax forms, asset purchases, loan and director balances, and the confirmations the filing depends on.
The annual KYC refresh
Re-dated identity documents and proof of address, plus whatever your risk policy adds on top.
The same four cycles, in more detail, on our page for accountants and bookkeepers.
What Suralink does well
Read from their own pricing page on 2026-09-06. The AI row below is theirs, and this page concedes it by name.
- Purpose-built for audit PBC request lists, which is a job no general tool does as well
- The widest document-AI surface here — prescreen, vouching, consistency and version agents
- Workpaper tooling and financial statement tie-out in the same platform
- Modular, so a firm buys the pieces its engagements actually need
Why bookkeepers look for a Suralink alternative
The route in is a sales conversation
No published price, no self-serve trial. Reasonable for a product sold to audit firms; a poor fit for a practice that wants to try something before the next close.
Their clients answer chat, not a workflow tool
A small business owner is not going to learn a request-list interface. One message on the channel they read, one link, no password.
They do not want another vault
Client bank statements and director IDs sitting in a third-party platform is a liability the firm carries and the vendor monetises.
The check they need is at the front, not the review
Not "is this workpaper internally consistent" but "is this the right statement for the right quarter" — asked at upload, before anyone opens it.
ChaseDocs vs Suralink at a glance
- 1 Suralink is purpose-built for the PBC request list — the documents an audit team needs from a client, tracked against fieldwork. That is a job no general collection tool does as well. A practice running monthly closes is not the buyer it was designed for.
- 2 Suralink CORE is quoted by sales; the Cloud Testing Suite, Financial Statement Tie Out, Workpaper Suite, Secure File Sharing and E-Signature are add-ons that require CORE and are also unpriced. Normal for a product sold to audit firms, and it does mean you cannot price it, trial it or start it this afternoon.
- 3 Nothing on Suralink's pricing page names a client-facing SMS or chat channel, so we are not claiming they lack one. ChaseDocs sends the request and the reminders over WhatsApp or email, chosen per request.
- 4 Suralink wins this row on breadth, and it is not close: Document Prescreen Agent AI, Data Vouching Agent AI, Mathematical Accuracy AI, Internal Consistency AI, Prior Year Consistency AI, Version Comparison AI. ChaseDocs runs one narrow check and runs it on arrival — is this the document I asked for, does it cover the period I set, does it expire before the date I set, is it legible — so a wrong upload goes back on the client's list while they are still paying attention. Different jobs: theirs reviews documents inside an engagement, ours judges an upload against the request that asked for it.
- 5 Their pages do not state where the original lives, so this page does not claim it either way. What ChaseDocs does is documented: the upload is written into your connected cloud storage as the file of record, and we keep the checklist, the verdict and a pointer.
- 6 ChaseDocs is priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from at once, billed monthly by card — see our pricing section, where the app is authoritative.

You do not want to be the document custodian. Neither do we.
Your clients' bank statements and directors' IDs are their data, your liability, and someone else's business model. Every tool that holds them adds a third party to every privacy review you ever do.
Uploads land in your cloud
Connect Google Drive™ and documents route straight into the folder your team already works from. The file of record is always yours.
We keep a pointer, not the file
ChaseDocs stores the checklist, the verdict and a reference — so if we were ever breached, there is no client bank statement here to take.
The AI copy is transient
One encrypted copy is used for the check, then deleted the moment it finishes. Nothing from inside a document is ever stored or logged.
Nothing to unwind if you leave
Cancel and your documents are unaffected, because they were never ours. There is no export to request and no retention period to read.
The question to put to any audit or collection platform
After a client uploads, who holds the original, and can it be storage I already own? Suralink's own pages do not say, which is normal — most vendors treat custody as an implementation detail rather than a purchasing question. It is a purchasing question. Every product that holds your clients' records is a third party you carry through every privacy review, every client security questionnaire, and every renewal.
Switch to ChaseDocs if…
- You run bookkeeping closes, not audit engagements.
- You want a price you can read and a trial you can start today.
- Your clients answer WhatsApp faster than they open a portal.
- You want the wrong upload caught on arrival, not in review.
- You want the file of record in your own cloud, not a vendor platform.
Stay with Suralink if…
- You run audits. Suralink built the product for the PBC list and we did not.
- You need workpaper tooling and financial statement tie-out in the same platform.
- You want the breadth of their document AI — prescreen, vouching, consistency and version agents.
- You need modular add-ons your engagements actually use, priced per firm by their sales team.
Switching takes an afternoon, not a project
There's no data migration, because ChaseDocs never holds your documents in the first place. Three steps:
- 01
Rebuild your checklist as a template
Add the documents and questions you request each period. Reuse it for every client, every cycle.
- 02
Connect your cloud storage
Link Google Drive so uploads route straight there. Or use the zero-config encrypted fallback.
- 03
Send your first request over WhatsApp
Your client uploads with no login, AI checks each file, and reminders chase them for you.
See it in your own words
Same product, described with the documents you actually chase.

Suralink alternative FAQ
Is ChaseDocs a good Suralink alternative?
It depends entirely on what you do. If you run audits, Suralink is built for the PBC request list and ChaseDocs is not a substitute — no workpaper tooling, no tie-out, none of the review agents. If you are a bookkeeping or accounting practice collecting bank statements, invoices, payroll summaries and KYC documents on a monthly cycle, ChaseDocs is built for that shape of work, is priced on a page you can read, and starts the same afternoon.
Does Suralink have AI document checking?
Yes, and more of it than we do. Their own pricing page names Document Prescreen Agent AI, Data Vouching Agent AI, Mathematical Accuracy AI, Internal Consistency AI, Prior Year Consistency AI, Version Comparison AI. It would be wrong to suggest otherwise, and any comparison that did should not be trusted on anything else. The distinction is what the AI is pointed at: theirs reviews documents inside an audit engagement — consistency, accuracy, prior-year comparison. ChaseDocs checks an incoming upload against the request that asked for it: right document, right period, not expiring before the date you set, legible, on arrival and before a human looks at it. Read from their site on 2026-09-06.
How much does Suralink cost?
They do not publish it. Suralink CORE is quoted by their sales team, and the Cloud Testing Suite, Financial Statement Tie Out, Workpaper Suite, Secure File Sharing and E-Signature modules all require CORE and are also unpriced. Their pricing page says as much in their own words: every company and team has different needs, and they will find the right plan for you. We have not guessed at a figure and you should be suspicious of any comparison page that has. ChaseDocs starts at $29/month with a 7-day free trial and no card. Checked on 2026-09-06.
Where do my clients' documents live?
With ChaseDocs, in your own cloud storage. Connect Google Drive and each upload routes straight there as the file of record; ChaseDocs keeps the checklist, the validation result and a pointer, plus one transient encrypted copy for the AI pass that is deleted the moment it finishes. What Suralink does with the original is not stated on their pages, so we are not going to characterise it — ask them directly, and ask before you move a book of clients across.
Can ChaseDocs handle a whole book of clients at once?
Yes, on every plan including the entry one. Add the clients as a group and each gets their own record, their own checklist and their own link, all sent in a single action, with one checklist edit fanning out to everyone on it. You track the close as one row showing how many clients are still outstanding. One constraint worth knowing: a checklist belongs to one contact, so if a client's owner and their office manager both send you things, give them a checklist each.
