Moxo alternative

The Moxo alternative for practices that need documents in, not a platform

Moxo is a platform for running client interactions — flows, approvals, meetings, a copilot and a row of agents — and it is priced as one, from $500 a month. If what is actually broken is that clients do not send their bank statements until the third ask, that is a great deal of product to buy for one problem. ChaseDocs does the one problem: chases over WhatsApp, checks every upload against the request you sent, and leaves the records in your own cloud.

The short version

Last updated 2026-09-06

Moxo is a client-interaction platform — flows, approvals, meetings and an agent suite — from $500 a month for 250 flows a year, with unlimited seats on every tier. ChaseDocs does one job: collecting client documents. It differs on three things: requests go over WhatsApp, an AI reads each upload against the request you sent, and the files stay in your own cloud.

The job

What a bookkeeping practice actually chases

Four collection cycles, not one. Any tool you buy is being judged on these.

Onboarding a new client

Director and shareholder ID, proof of address, opening balances, prior-year accounts, the signed engagement letter.

Every close

Bank and credit-card statements for the period, sales and purchase invoices, receipts, payroll summaries.

Year-end and filing

Full-year statements, tax forms, asset purchases, loan and director balances, and the confirmations the filing depends on.

The annual KYC refresh

Re-dated identity documents and proof of address, plus whatever your risk policy adds on top.

The same four cycles, in more detail, on our page for accountants and bookkeepers.

What Moxo does well

Read from their own pricing page on 2026-09-06. Unlimited seats on every tier is a real advantage and it is in this list, not buried.

  • Unlimited seats on every tier, including the entry plan
  • A client-interaction platform, not only a collection tool — approvals, meetings and workflows in one place
  • Broad agent tooling with model selection and custom prompts at the top tier
  • Priced per organisation on volume, so adding staff never changes the bill
Why firms switch

Why bookkeepers look for a Moxo alternative

The bill is platform-shaped

Flows per year and AI credits are the right meter for a firm running client workflows at scale. For a practice chasing statements every month it prices in a lot of capability that will sit unused.

Their clients answer chat, not a workspace

Every shared workspace assumes the client will come to it. A message on the channel they already read, with one link and no password, does not.

They do not want another platform holding client records

Bank statements and director IDs in a third-party system are a liability the firm carries through every privacy review and every client security questionnaire.

They want the wrong upload caught at the door

Not summarised or extracted later, but judged on arrival against the request that asked for it, so it goes back on the client list the same day.

Not stated on the pricing page
  1. 1 Moxo runs flows, approvals, meetings and an agent suite; collecting documents is one part of it. ChaseDocs is only the collection step and does not try to be anything else. Which of those you want is the whole decision.
  2. 2 Team, $500/month or $5,000/year — 250 flows a year, 25,000 AI credits a year, unlimited seats. Scale and Enterprise are on quote. The meters are different in kind, not just in size: theirs counts flows and AI credits per year, ours counts how many people you are collecting from at once.
  3. 3 Moxo wins this row outright — seats are unlimited on every tier including the entry plan, so hiring never changes the bill. ChaseDocs starts at one seat, with more on higher plans; see our pricing section.
  4. 4 Moxo's pricing page names email and SMS notifications, and their integrations page names no messaging platform at all — so we are not claiming they lack WhatsApp. ChaseDocs sends the request and the reminders over WhatsApp or email, chosen per request.
  5. 5 Moxo ships more AI than we do: AI Copilot (extract, write, transcribe, summarize, translate) and an Agent Foundry with Automation, Review, Prepare and Advise agents. The ChaseDocs check is narrow and runs at one moment — on arrival, judging the upload against the request that asked for it: right document, right period, not expiring before the date you set, legible.
  6. 6 Their pages do not state where the original lives or whether bring-your-own storage is offered, so this page claims nothing either way. What ChaseDocs does is documented: the upload is written into your connected cloud storage as the file of record, and we keep the checklist, the verdict and a pointer.
  7. 7 We found no trial stated on their pricing page. That is a gap in our reading rather than a claim that none exists.

Custody

You do not want to be the document custodian. Neither do we.

Your clients' bank statements and directors' IDs are their data, your liability, and someone else's business model. Every tool that holds them adds a third party to every privacy review you ever do.

Uploads land in your cloud

Connect Google Drive™ and documents route straight into the folder your team already works from. The file of record is always yours.

We keep a pointer, not the file

ChaseDocs stores the checklist, the verdict and a reference — so if we were ever breached, there is no client bank statement here to take.

The AI copy is transient

One encrypted copy is used for the check, then deleted the moment it finishes. Nothing from inside a document is ever stored or logged.

Nothing to unwind if you leave

Cancel and your documents are unaffected, because they were never ours. There is no export to request and no retention period to read.

The question to ask any client-interaction platform

Where does the original of an uploaded document live, and can it live in storage I already own? Moxo's own pages do not say, which is normal for a platform sold on workflow rather than custody. Ask before you route a book of clients through it. A platform that holds your clients' records becomes a third party in every privacy review, every security questionnaire and every renewal conversation you have from then on.

Switch to ChaseDocs if…

  • Collecting documents is the problem, and the rest of the platform is not.
  • A per-firm monthly price fits better than flows and AI credits per year.
  • Your clients answer WhatsApp faster than they open a shared workspace.
  • You want the file of record in your own cloud, not a vendor platform.
  • You want to start this afternoon without a quote.

Stay with Moxo if…

  • You need approvals, meetings and multi-party flows, not just document collection.
  • Unlimited seats on every tier matters more than the monthly price — theirs beats ours on that.
  • You want a broad agent suite with model selection and custom prompts.
  • You are running client interactions at a scale where a platform is the right purchase.
Migration

Switching takes an afternoon, not a project

There's no data migration, because ChaseDocs never holds your documents in the first place. Three steps:

  1. 01

Rebuild your checklist as a template

Add the documents and questions you request each period. Reuse it for every client, every cycle.

  2. 02

    Connect your cloud storage

Link Google Drive so uploads route straight there. Or use the zero-config encrypted fallback.

  3. 03

Send your first request over WhatsApp

Your client uploads with no login, AI checks each file, and reminders chase them for you.

Moxo alternative FAQ

Is ChaseDocs a good Moxo alternative?

If document collection is the actual problem, yes. Moxo is a client-interaction platform — flows, approvals, meetings, an AI copilot and an agent suite — and collecting documents is one part of it. ChaseDocs is only the collection step: a checklist, a no-login link over WhatsApp or email, automated chasing, an AI check on each upload, and filing into your own cloud. If you need the approvals and the meetings too, ChaseDocs will not cover it and Moxo is the more complete product.

How much does Moxo cost compared to ChaseDocs?

Moxo's published entry plan is $500/mo — Team, $500/month or $5,000/year — 250 flows a year, 25,000 AI credits a year, unlimited seats. Scale and Enterprise are on quote. ChaseDocs starts at $29/month, billed in USD by card, priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from at once. The meters are different in kind rather than in size: flows and AI credits per year against people you are collecting from right now, so the right comparison is which unit describes your work. Figures read from their pricing page on 2026-09-06.

Does Moxo support WhatsApp?

We do not know, and we are not going to guess. Their pricing page names email and SMS notifications, and their integrations page names no messaging platform by name, so absence of evidence here is not evidence of absence — ask them. What we can state is our side: ChaseDocs sends the request and the reminders over WhatsApp or email, chosen per request, with the reminder run capped at about three messages that cancel themselves the moment nothing is outstanding. One limit worth knowing: our WhatsApp is one-way. It sends; it does not receive, and there is no shared inbox.

Where do the documents end up?

With ChaseDocs, in your own cloud storage. Connect Google Drive and each upload routes straight there as the file of record; ChaseDocs keeps the checklist, the validation result and a pointer, plus one transient encrypted copy for the AI pass that is deleted the moment it finishes. Whether Moxo holds the original, and whether bring-your-own storage is offered on any tier, is not stated on their pages — so this page does not characterise it. Ask them directly.

Does ChaseDocs have unlimited seats?

Not on the entry plan, and Moxo beats us on this. Their seats are unlimited on every tier including the $500 entry plan. ChaseDocs starts at one seat on Solo, with more on higher plans and unlimited on the top one — see the pricing section, where the app is authoritative. If your constraint is headcount rather than how many clients you chase, that is a real reason to prefer theirs.
