The Clustdoc alternative for bookkeepers who want collection, not an application platform
Clustdoc is a capable product for structured application processes, and it is priced like one — from $190 a month for three seats, fifty applications and twenty-five gigabytes. A bookkeeping practice collecting statements and receipts every month is buying a lot of machinery it will not use. ChaseDocs is priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from, chases over WhatsApp, and leaves the records in your own cloud rather than renting you space in theirs.

The short version
Last updated 2026-09-06Clustdoc is a full applicant-workflow product — forms, review, e-signature and payments — with AI data extraction on every plan, from $190 a month for 3 seats, 50 applications and 25 GB of storage. ChaseDocs is a collection layer priced per firm. It differs on three things: WhatsApp delivery, what the check reads, and files that stay in your own cloud.
What a bookkeeping practice actually chases
Four collection cycles, not one. Any tool you buy is being judged on these.
Onboarding a new client
Director and shareholder ID, proof of address, opening balances, prior-year accounts, the signed engagement letter.
Every close
Bank and credit-card statements for the period, sales and purchase invoices, receipts, payroll summaries.
Year-end and filing
Full-year statements, tax forms, asset purchases, loan and director balances, and the confirmations the filing depends on.
The annual KYC refresh
Re-dated identity documents and proof of address, plus whatever your risk policy adds on top.
The same four cycles, in more detail, on our page for accountants and bookkeepers.
What Clustdoc does well
Read from their own pricing and features pages on 2026-09-06. Their AI row is real and this page concedes it.
- A full applicant-workflow product — forms, review, e-signature and payments, not only collection
- AI data extraction and validation included on every plan, not gated to a higher tier
- Integrations with 1500+ apps via native connectors, Zapier, Make or the API
- Built for structured application processes with many steps, which a checklist tool does not model
Why bookkeepers look for a Clustdoc alternative
They are paying for an application platform
Forms, payments, e-signature and a multi-step review pipeline. A monthly close needs a checklist and some chasing, and the price difference is the rest of the product.
Their clients answer chat, not email and SMS
A small business owner opens WhatsApp within the hour and email on Friday. The channel is often the whole difference between a close that starts on time and one that does not.
They do not want to rent storage for their own clients' files
Paying a vendor by the gigabyte to hold documents you are already liable for is a strange trade when you have a Drive with room in it.
They want the document judged, not just read
Extracting a field tells you what is on the page. Knowing it is last quarter's statement is what stops it reaching the workpapers.
ChaseDocs vs Clustdoc at a glance
- 1 PRO, listed at €190 / $190 per month — 3 user seats, 50 new applications a month, 25 GB storage. EXPERT and ULTIMATE are on quote. The shape matters more than the number: their meter counts seats AND applications AND gigabytes, so three of your growth axes each have a ceiling. ChaseDocs meters one thing — how many people you are collecting from at once.
- 2 Clustdoc's own pages describe automated email and SMS follow-ups. WhatsApp is not named on them.
- 3 Clustdoc lists AI Data extraction and AI Data validation, on all plans — on every tier, not gated to a higher one, which is more generous than most tools here. Extraction pulls fields out of a document. The ChaseDocs check judges the document against the request that asked for it: right document, right period, not expiring before the date you set, legible. Different jobs, and theirs covers more ground.
- 4 Stated because their own pricing page shows it: storage is sold in gigabytes per tier — 25 GB on PRO, 50 GB on EXPERT. A product that meters your storage is holding your documents. To be precise about what this does NOT say: they do offer cloud storage sync, described on their features page as synchronising your account with your cloud storage service, though no platform is named there. The difference is custody of the original, not whether an integration exists.
- 5 ChaseDocs has no storage tier because it stores no documents. Your cap is whatever your own cloud storage has.
- 6 We found no trial stated on their pricing page. That is a gap in our reading rather than a claim that none exists — check with them.

You do not want to be the document custodian. Neither do we.
Your clients' bank statements and directors' IDs are their data, your liability, and someone else's business model. Every tool that holds them adds a third party to every privacy review you ever do.
Uploads land in your cloud
Connect Google Drive™ and documents route straight into the folder your team already works from. The file of record is always yours.
We keep a pointer, not the file
ChaseDocs stores the checklist, the verdict and a reference — so if we were ever breached, there is no client bank statement here to take.
The AI copy is transient
One encrypted copy is used for the check, then deleted the moment it finishes. Nothing from inside a document is ever stored or logged.
Nothing to unwind if you leave
Cancel and your documents are unaffected, because they were never ours. There is no export to request and no retention period to read.
The question behind the storage line on their pricing page
A plan that includes 25 GB is a plan where the vendor holds your clients' documents — that is what the gigabytes are for. It is worth asking what happens at the cap, what the retention policy is, what leaves with you if you cancel, and whether the copy in your own cloud can ever become the original rather than a sync. None of those answers is on a pricing page, and all four matter more the longer you stay.
Switch to ChaseDocs if…
- You collect a repeating checklist, not multi-step applications.
- Per-seat, per-application and per-gigabyte ceilings are the wrong shape for your practice.
- Your clients answer WhatsApp faster than they answer email.
- You want the file of record in your own cloud, with no storage tier to outgrow.
- You want to start today without asking for a quote.
Stay with Clustdoc if…
- You run structured application processes with forms, payments and e-signature in one flow.
- You need AI data extraction across every plan — theirs is broader than our check.
- You need integrations with 1500+ apps via native connectors, Zapier, Make or their API.
- You want the vendor to hold the documents, with storage included in the plan.
- Three seats and fifty applications a month is a comfortable fit for how you work.
Switching takes an afternoon, not a project
There's no data migration, because ChaseDocs never holds your documents in the first place. Three steps:
- 01
Rebuild your checklist as a template
Add the documents and questions you request each period. Reuse it for every client, every cycle.
- 02
Connect your cloud storage
Link Google Drive so uploads route straight there. Or use the zero-config encrypted fallback.
- 03
Send your first request over WhatsApp
Your client uploads with no login, AI checks each file, and reminders chase them for you.
See it in your own words
Same product, described with the documents you actually chase.

Clustdoc alternative FAQ
Is ChaseDocs a good Clustdoc alternative?
For a bookkeeping or accounting practice, usually yes — mostly because the two products are shaped for different work. Clustdoc models a structured application: several steps, forms, review, e-signature, sometimes a payment. A monthly close is a repeating checklist sent to the same people. ChaseDocs is built for the second shape and priced for it, from $29/month per firm against Clustdoc's $190/mo. If you genuinely run applications rather than collections, Clustdoc is the better-designed tool and you should look at it seriously.
Does Clustdoc have AI document checking?
Yes. Their pricing page lists AI Data extraction and AI Data validation, on all plans, available on every plan rather than gated to a higher tier, which is more generous than most tools in this category. The difference is what the AI is pointed at. Extraction reads fields out of a document. The ChaseDocs check judges the document against the request that asked for it — is this the document I asked for, does it cover the period I set, does it expire before the date I set, is it legible — and returns that verdict on arrival so a wrong upload goes back on the client's list. Read from their site on 2026-09-06.
How much does Clustdoc cost compared to ChaseDocs?
Clustdoc's published entry plan is $190/mo — PRO, listed at €190 / $190 per month — 3 user seats, 50 new applications a month, 25 GB storage. EXPERT and ULTIMATE are on quote. ChaseDocs starts at $29/month, billed in USD by card, priced per firm on how many people you are collecting from at once, with no separate seat, application or storage meter. The comparison is not quite like for like: Clustdoc includes more product for the money, and whether that matters depends entirely on whether you use the rest of it. Figures read from their pricing page on 2026-09-06.
Does Clustdoc keep my clients' documents?
Their pricing page sells storage in gigabytes per tier, which is the clearest possible sign that the documents live in the platform. They also offer cloud storage synchronisation — their features page describes synchronising your account with your cloud storage service, though it does not name which platforms. So it would be wrong to say they have no storage integration. The distinction that matters is custody of the original: with ChaseDocs the upload is written into your own Google Drive as the file of record, and we keep the checklist, the verdict and a pointer.
What happens to my documents if I stop paying ChaseDocs?
Nothing. They are in your own cloud storage and always were — there is no export to request, no retention window to read, and no vendor holding the originals hostage while you decide. You lose the checklists, the reminder scheduling and the validation history, which live with us. That asymmetry is deliberate, and it is the single best reason to prefer a bring-your-own-storage tool over a vault.
